2012 Hyundai Accent Achieves Most Power and Mileage in its Class

Hyundai recently unnveiled the new 2012 Hyundai Accent at the Montreal Auto Show, a stark contrast from the firm that said the car wouldn't debut until the New York Auto Show in April.

Hyundai appears to be marketing the all-new Accent to those looking for a great low cost option while still attempting to outperform just about all aspects of the competition in the class. The new styling appears similar to what consumers are used to on the Sonata and the new Elantra. The 2012 Accent will also be powerd by a direct-injection 138 horsepower 1.6 liter engine that will make 123-ft-lbs of torque. According to the press release in Canada, it will also get roughly 41 mpg on the highway and 30.5 mpg in the city. This makes it possibly one of the highest-rated cars in the class for mileage and power.

Despite the gains in mileage, the Accent is actually slightly larger than its predecessors. The 2012 model is now 2.7 inches longer and 5mm wider. This adds additional interior space while also providing a solid amount of cargo room as well. Weight, as always, will me kept to a minimum, and the car weighs in at 2,392 lbs.
